Obama Presidental Center Development Mural
A mural dedicated to the South and West sides can now be seen along the fence on Stony Island at the site of the Obama Presidential Center. The three-panel mural was recently unveiled and created in partnership with Chicago based artist Brandon Breaux and 15 talented students attending the Dyett High School for the Arts. It centers the students’ inspiring voices and represents the culture of the community that gave the Obamas so much.
For weeks, students worked with Brandon to create a piece that would inspire passersby. To him, the project was more than a collection of collage images and colors, and more than a tribute to the Obamas. It is a powerful statement of community, opportunity, and of the enduring legacy of the city.

John Lewis Carry On:
Reflections for a New Generation
This project is a commission for John Lewis’ posthumous book Carry On. The cover was commissioned by Grand Central Publishing in May of 2021 lead by art director Albert Austin Tang.
The book is a national best seller and the audio book, performed by Don Cheadle, went on to win the Grammy for the best spoken word album at the 64th annual awards celebration. I’m honored to have been asked to create this portrait of the civil rights icon and former Congressman. Congratulations to John’s family, and writers Kabir Sehgal + Andrew Young.

28 Days of Greatness
28 Days of Greatness honors and uplifts Black individuals presently making history in their communities. The portraits will feature individuals who embody Black excellence. The images are unveiled through both Rebuild Foundation and my own Instagram platform. This project was a personal project that came at the right time and has made a huge impact on my work as an artist.

Andre Leon Talley for Ebony Magazine
in January 2022, shortly after his unfortunate passing I was contacted by Ebony magazine and commissioned to create a portrait to pay tribute to the late Andre Leon Talley. The work was used as cover art for an issue created to honor the life of the fashion icon and former Ebony and Vogue editor.

The Ebony issue was very well recieved by the broader community as other publications, at which Andre held tenor didn’t honor his contribution when he passed. This portrait was celebrated by many figures in the world of fashion and made an impression on his estate as well. Thank you to Ebony Magazine, former editor Marielle Bobo for inviting me to be a part of this beautiful Tribute and art director Rashida Morgan-Brown for your commitment to the work. Thank you to the Andre Leon Talley estate and everyone who sent warm messages about how the art impacted them in a time of bereavement.

Brandon Breaux for
MCA Chicago
In 2020 I collaborated with the MCA Chicago Gift Shop on what was supposed to be in support of their annual Summer Program Tuesdays on the Terrace. As we all know many plans got interrupted in 2020 so the project which was supposed to support in inperson event turned more into a general collaboration to support a virtual version of Tuesdays on the Terrace.
The design began to take the form of an investigation of institution, taking on the themes Access, Representation and Inclusion. The collaboration culminated with an impromptu public meditation on the museum’s terrace. You can read about this demonstration on the activations page of this site.
